Art of Destruction; Destroy with Style

31/12/2025

Let’s face it, we all enjoy destroying things when we’re stressed at the office: shredding bills, crumpling paper into balls… Actions that give us a guilty pleasure that the industry has generally ignored.

That’s why Art of Destruction was born. A trio of devices that literally disintegrate, compress, and explode. Each one performs a specific destructive task, transforming it into a deliberate, almost ceremonial interaction, but all share a hi-fi-inspired design that leaves their internal mechanisms on display, a far cry from the typical office accessory.

Together, the three present a cohesive family look, starting with Disintegrate, a paper shredder that displays the entire process through its window. Next is Compress, a compacting cylinder where you can drop any scrap into its opening, and when you squeeze it, its spirals crush it into a tiny point. The latest is Explosion, a console that includes a ferrofluid system whose spikes change shape with each press of the “play” button, simulating tiny miniature explosions.

“For now, they’re just a design proposal that we absolutely love, so don’t expect to find them anywhere…”

For now, they’re just a design proposal that we absolutely love, so don’t expect to find them anywhere, unless the idea catches on and they end up in some shop window in Akihabara, although we suspect they won’t exactly be cheap.
